New Building Update

Volunteers are busy painting and otherwise working on the buildout at our new theatre!
Several people painted parts of the theatre's black interior last weekend. Later, we'll use beautiful, bright colors for the lobby. And much of the work must be done by professionals, so Board members are getting quotes on those projects.
We have some fantastic sponsors for portions of the buildout, and we're still looking for people to fund several projects:
-
Window tint
-
A new exterior door
-
A wall between the theatre and the lobby
-
Paint
And if you love picking up a paint roller or doing one of the many other tasks involved in buildout, keep your eyes open. We hope to host a work day soon!
Wondering when the new theatre will open? Getting permits takes time these days, which is why our next production, The Man in the Locket, will be in the Leander Activity Center. But we hope to open the new theatre later in the fall so we can have our Christmas show, A Christmas Carol, there!

It's a Theatre ... and It'll Look Like One Soon

This is a photo from the first rehearsal of our melodrama. That big room they're in?
It's our new theatre!
It doesn't look like one yet, since the buildout hasn't yet begun. But picture this...
-
Blacked-out windows and doors
-
Rows of seats where the cast is sitting in this photo.
-
A stage where the camera is.
-
A lobby on the right-hand side.
-
A fantastic backstage area, visible through the open doorway in the back.
We've been without a building for about two years, so this is an incredibly exciting time!
Build-out has already begun at the new location:
11840 Hero Way West #200
Leander 78641
(Behind Blue Corn Harvest Restaurant)

The Board of WOBCP regrets to inform you that long-time member Cinda White passed away on May 19th. Cinda was active with WOBCP from 2002 until 2016 when medical issues reduced her ability to participate in WOBCP activities. During her time with WOBCP, Cinda took on many roles and responsibilities. She was a member of the board of directors multiple times; she ran the Box Office for several years, and she was a sound technician, stage manager, assistant director, and director. Her favorite area was acting. Ironic because when she was six years old, she was outside the curtain when it closed. Totally embarrassed, she vowed never to be on stage again. Until Mousetrap. Her husband was directing and Cinda was to be the assistant director. Because they were having problems finding a Mrs. Boyle, Cinda volunteered. For Cinda, like many others, it was love at first performance. She continued her acting career in I Hate Hamlet, Harvey, A Scandal in Bohemia, and A Murder in Whitechapel, among others. Her favorite was playing Aunt Ethyl in Harvey. She loved being on stage with her husband. Please join us in celebration of this wonderful life that Cinda led with WOBCP.
