All the ladies who are "anyone" in Chinquapin, LA, come to Truvy's Beauty Salon to have their hair done. With the help of Annelle, her assistant, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoo and free advice to Ouiser, an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, the local social leader, and M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby is about to marry a good ole boy.
