All the ladies who are "anyone" in Chinquapin, LA, come to Truvy's Beauty Salon to have their hair done. With the help of Annelle, her assistant, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoo and free advice to Ouiser, an eccentric millionaire, Miss Clairee, the local social leader, and M'Lynn, whose daughter, Shelby is about to marry a good ole boy. Filled with hilarious repartee and few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play reveals the special quality of the characters that make them truly touching, funny and amiable company in good times and bad. |
