Dirty Work at the Crossroads is a mirthfully tear-jerking story of Nellie Lovelace, an innocent country girl and the dastardly Munro. Munro, the viper has a wife, Ida Rhinegold, the dastardly belle of New Haven Music Halls, but that does not prevent him from pursuing Nellie and tearing her from the arms of her dying mother (whom he has poisoned). Nor does it prevent him from driving Adam Oakhart, the blacksmith's son - and Nellie's true love, to drink, or from blackmailing rich Mrs. Asterbilt, and bewitching her daughter, Leonie. Add to this colorful mix of characters the antics of the bumbling rustic, Mookie who has his eye on the Asterbilt's French Maid (ooooh la la!) This is a popcorn throwin', hootin' and hollerin' mellerdrama of the first order. |
