Parker Ballatine is a theatre critic, and his wife, Angela, has visions of being a playwright. He heckles her efforts, tells her she won't finish the play and when she does complete it, he candidly informs her that it's awful, which it truly is. Worst of all, he insists that on opening night he will do his duty and review the play himself. Adding to the comedic mix is the almost unwanted attention Ivy (Parker's ex-wife) bestows upon Parker, while he goes through his searing crisis and the complications of Angela's mother, Charlotte - a strong-willed woman who is used to having her way, and someone who sympathizes with Parker. Add a precocious son, and a director (whom Parker hates), directing Angela's play, and you have a fun, entertaining romantic comedy with something for everyone. |
